Organizing Team Manager
DEPARTMENT: Organizing
LOCATION: Remote Position
REPORTS TO: Managing Director
The Center for Third World Organizing is a racial justice organization dedicated to building social justice movements led by people of color. We were established in 1980 as a training and resource center that promotes and sustains direct-action organizing in communities of color in the United States.
We believe in creating a pipeline of organizers that are equipped with both the fundamentals of organizing as well as new, innovative and creative tactics & strategies. We believe that those historically marginalized should lead this fight.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position is full-time (32 hours per week), exempt, fully benefits-eligible, reports to the Managing Director, and is paid an annual salary between $65,000-$75,000
The Organizing Team Manager will work to ensure that CTWO’s Organizing programming is seamlessly executed and is responsible for being our lead trainer for the Organizing programs. You will primarily focus on expanding, implementing, and evaluating CTWO’s public training offerings, legacy programs, fee-for-service programs, and designing new programs as needed. Training Manager will…
- Build and Supervise a team
- Supervise and develop staff of the Organizing Team including the Program Coordinator and Program Assistant
- Create systems to ensure the effectiveness of the Organizing Team
- Collaborate with the Organizing team in our engagement with movement building groups seeking capacity building support
- Create and Evaluate Programs
- Manage CTWO’s key Organizing Programs including MAAP and CAT
- Develop and adjust training programs to be current and relevant including vision, goals, strategy, and timeline.
- Create criteria to measure the effectiveness and impact of CTWO trainings
- Be the Lead Trainer for CTWOs Organizing Programs and customized training
- Oversee and Co-develop curriculum and training materials
- Grow reach and partnerships
- Curate a list of training for various CTWO programs
- Expand the reach of CTWO’s Organizing training programs.
- Serve as a representative of CTWO within national networks
Required Experience:
- Substantial experience as a lead organizer and/or trainer in social justice movements.
- Experience organizing campaigns in Communities of color.
- Willingness and or experience with, training
technology – webinars, video conferencing systems. - Experience creating training curriculum
- Supervision experience
Work Experience
- Minimum of seven years combined experience as a member leader, paid organizer, and or lead organizing experience in organizing.
- Minimum 5 years experience of training organizers and leading organizing training or training programs.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of management experience.
Knowledge and Skills
- Must have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal effectively with a wide range of persons.
- Excellent oral and written communications and organizational skills are required. Must be able to travel as deemed necessary. (Once it is safe to do so, this role will require 75% travel)
- Ability to work effectively in a remote work environment.
- Flexible and nimble, able to manage multiple tasks and projects.
- A deep love for the communities we are fighting with
- Bilingual or multilingual a plus
COMPENSATION
CTWO offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience and a comprehensive, progressive benefits program to attract, retain, and motivate a high-performing and dedicated workforce. The salary range for this position is full-time $65,000-$75,000 a year. This is a 32-hours per week position.
